About the Author
Gary Whiteley has worn many professional hats. He has been a medical laboratory technician, truck driver, residential home builder, painter, commercial fisher, university residence hall director, university program evaluator, teacher, principal, assistant superintendent of schools, and leadership consultant. Gary has been an educator for forty-two years. He developed and facilitated coaching programs that served school principals for the past twenty years. Gary has supported leaders in Alaska’s Lower Kuskokwim School District, where climate
change is forcing entire villages, including their schools, to relocate. He experienced and witnessed the challenges of being a leader in public schools at the forefront of the American democratic process. His experiences, and formal education, have inspired two books about leadership. Gary resides in Alaska with his wife and book illustrator, Mary.
